Linux Can Not Remove/Uninstall Workstation 8

If you Followed some Bad Uninstalling Procedures and your VMWare Workstation Installation is Simply Broken and you Can Not Arrive to Remove It this Post Will Show you the Needed Trick to Apply.

 

Since it is Very Complicate to Remove a Broken Uninstallation disposing Only of One VMWare Workstation Version you will Need to Find Possibly an Up-Grade Version. If you have Installed the Last Linux VMWare Workstation Version so you Can Try to Use a Down-Grade to Obtain the Same Result...

 

  1. Open a Terminal Window
  2. Login as SuperUser
    su
  3. Access the New VMWare Workstation Location
    cd path/To/VMWare Workstation .bundle
    
  4. Start the VMWare Workstation Installer with the -I flag to Suppress Errors
    vmware-workstation-8.x.x.bundle -I --console --custom
    The Workstation Installer will Take Care of Removing Every Trace of Existing Workstation Installation Before to Install the New Version.
  5. Now if you Want Definitely Remove the VMWare from your System Call Again the Installer But This Time with the -u flag
    vmware-installer -u vmware-workstation
